    Setting Up Your Wireless Network

Follow these step-wise instructions to setup wireless network for Mac OS X v 10.4 users with AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5.

Install base stations one after another. You can start configuration with setting up main base station, and then move on to relay base station followed by remote base station configuration.

Ensure Wi-Fi base stations are located in places where radio signals can be easily connected. Apparently, past Wi-Fi base stations configurations will enable Factory Default Reset for every Wi-Fi base station. Follow steps:

  • Turn on ‘all Wi-Fi base stations’ and wait for them to appear on ‘AirPort Menu Extra’.

  • In AirPort Menu Extra, choose ‘802.11 g Wi-Fi base station’ for configuration. Wi-Fi base stations include AirPort Express (802.11 g) and AirPort Extreme (802.11 g).

  • Now you can open ‘AirPort Admin Utility’ for Graphite and Snow. Visit ‘Applications/ Utilities’ on your Mac device.

  • Choose ‘Wi-Fi base station’ in Base Station Chooser. Click on ‘Configure’.

  • Create ‘Wireless Network name’ in AirPort Network section.

  • By default wireless security is ‘Not Enabled’, and thus, no password can help you join the network. Click ‘Change Wireless Security…’ button and choose ‘WPA2 Personal’. Now create a strong and unique password with length between 8-63 characters long.

  • Go to the ‘Channel menu’ and select 1.

  • Then go to ‘Toolbar’ and select ‘Network’.

  • To configure main base station, ensure Distribute IP addresses are verified. Moreover, for relay base station, uncheck these settings for Mac device.

  • Go ‘Toolbar’ and click ‘WDS’.

  • Enable this base station as WDS.

  • Select preferred base station from WDS mode menu ‘main base station’, ‘relay base station’ and ‘remote base station’.

    1. For main base station, click ‘Add (+)’ and enter ‘Wireless mac address or AirPort ID’ for other remote base stations.
    2. For remote base station, enter ‘Wireless mac address or AirPort ID’ of main base station.
    3. For adding relay base station, enter ‘Wireless mac address or AirPort ID’ of main base station and click ‘Add’ and enter ‘Wireless mac address or AirPort ID’ of remote base stations.

  • Click ‘OK’.

  • Click ‘Update’.
